Paula Meola, Ballet Mistress

In 2017, Paula established Sterling Youth Ballet to offer the most talented few an opportunity to prepare for a professional career in dance. In addition, this is also Paula’s 17th year as the Owner and Artistic Director of Paula Meola Dance & Performing Arts! Paula is an honors graduate of Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in Dance. She was a member of the resident and touring companies of Butler Ballet and performed throughout the country under the direction of the nationally recognized ballet master Mr. George Verdak. Paula’s earlier training was received locally, and at the Walnut Hill School and Boston Ballet Company, under the direction of the great E. Virginia Williams. She is a member of Dance Masters of New England Chapter #5 and completed her certification from the Dance Teacher’s Club of Boston. Annually, Paula directs the production of the Nutcracker Ballet, with a cast of over 120 dancers. Throughout the years Paula has formed connections with some of the top dancers and choreographers in the business, many of whom she is proud to have as full-time faculty members at PMD and Sterling Youth Ballet. Paula continues to strive for the best, providing students with new opportunities, and preparing them for college and the professional dance world. She is so thankful to have had the support of her family, dancers, and faculty over the past 17 years.

Mindaugas Bauzys

Born in Lithuania, Mr. Bauzys graduated from Vilnius Ballet School, joining the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre where he was a principal dancer. He continued his training at the Copenhagen Bournonville Summer Academy and the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. He was a principal dancer with Ballet Arlington and a soloist with Boston Ballet, performing lead roles in: Cinderella, Snow White and Seven Dwarves, The Nutcracker, Les Sylphides, Giselle, Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, La Sylphide, Romeo and Juliet, Raymonda, Carmen, Don Quixote, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Hamlet, Apollo, and many more. Mr. Bauzys also performed as a guest artist in the USA, Canada, Denmark, Spain, Latvia, Estonia, Russia and, in 2000, he performed in Vladimir Vasilyev’s anniversary Gala at Bolshoi Theatre. Mr. Bauzys was also honored as Ballet Artist of the Year and he received the St. Christopher’s Prize from the Lithuanian Theatre Union while becoming the laureate in the arts category of the Baltic Assembly Prizes for Literature, The Arts, and Science. In 2001, he was awarded the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas, which was given by the Lithuanian President. After his retirement from the stage in May 2016, he joined the Festival Ballet Providence artistic staff as Ballet Master with the Company and as a faculty member with Festival Ballet Providence School.

Dede Recko

Dede received a BFA in Dance from the Boston Conservatory and has been certified by the Royal Academy of Dancing. She owned and operated her own ballet school in Shirley for many years. Dede has choreographed and performed for the Sawtelle Singers at the Bull Run in Shirley, and many local community theatre groups. Dede has conceived, written, narrated and choreographed many original youth ballets, including “The Rose in My Garden”, “Sugar and Spice” and “Fairy Isle”. Dede attended the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet Teachers Workshop under the direction of Marcia Dale Weary. Dede continues to challenge and inspire PMD and SYB dancers with her beautiful ballet choreography.
